In-House Laboratory
The safety and quality of our products are first and foremost ensured by an in-house Analysis Laboratory, which allows us to carry out daily physical, chemical, and bacteriological tests on fresh catch and mussels from our farms, as well as on frozen or deep-frozen products and in-house preparations. The presence of an internal lab is a highly valuable asset, as it enables fast feedback and constant process monitoring, provides technical-scientific support to research and development, and allows immediate intervention in case of any issues.
Each year, the internal lab at MareVivo performs over a thousand physical, chemical, and microbiological checks on food, environmental matrices, and the water used in processing.
Thanks to traditional culture-based methods as well as rapid-test kits that deliver results in just minutes, the products marketed by MareVivo are safe from a hygienic-health standpoint, in addition to being of excellent quality.
To validate its results, the internal lab regularly participates in inter-laboratory testing circuits on bivalve mollusks organized by the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale delle Venezie, and in international testing circuits on seafood products (LGC Standards).
The analysis laboratory is led by a biologist with decades of experience in seafood, and a veterinarian holding a PhD and specialization in the inspection of food of animal origin.
Additionally, MareVivo relies on accredited external laboratories for chemical, bacteriological, virological, and biotoxin analyses, recognized by Italy’s national accreditation body for testing laboratories, Accredia.
Certifications
All processes related to sustainable fishing, aquaculture, sorting, processing, and transformation of the products we market are carried out in full compliance with current regulations on food hygiene, safety, and traceability.
Compliance with quality standards is further confirmed by several voluntary certifications.
The UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 certification, recognized worldwide, confirms the company’s reliability and its ability to effectively meet consumer needs.
The environmental sustainability certification Friend of the Sea is awarded through an international program that acknowledges commitment to bio-sustainability in the seafood supply chain. We obtained this recognition following rigorous third-party audits.
Since 2019, MareVivo has also been certified under the prestigious BRC and IFS Food international standards for its bivalve mollusk purification and shipping processes. The BRC (British Retail Consortium) standard is essential for large-scale retail in the UK and beyond, as it certifies compliance with international safety and health regulations. For export to Germany, France, and other countries, the IFS Food standard is equally crucial.
